Frequently asked

How do I book?
Send us a request through the booking form or drop us a line at hello@blueys.nl. We'll come back with a quote and a date that works for both of us. To lock in the booking, we ask for a 25% deposit; the rest is settled within 14 days after the event.
What if I need to cancel?
Plans change, we get it. Cancellations up to 3 days before the event are fully refundable. Anything closer to the day is non-refundable, but we can usually reschedule depending on availability. Just let us know as early as you can.
When can we get in to set up?
The space is yours 30 minutes before your start time for setup, and we'd ask you to be packed up within 30 minutes after. If you need more time on either side, just say so when booking and we'll work it out (extra hours are charged at the additional-hour rate).
Can we bring our own food or drinks?
Food and drinks come from our kitchen, with two friendly exceptions: birthday cakes (we'll do the forks and plates for €2.50 per person) and your own bottles, with a corkage fee. €2.50 per beer, €10 per bottle of wine, €25 per bottle of spirits. Heads-up in advance is appreciated.
Can we decorate the space?
Yes, please — make it yours. A few small rules: nothing stuck to walls, windows or ceilings without checking with us first, and no confetti, glitter or open-flame candles (battery candles are fine). Balloons, arches, garlands and string lights are all welcome, as long as they come down with you at the end.
When do you need our final headcount?
By the Monday before the event for Tuesday-to-Friday bookings, or by the Thursday before for Saturday-to-Monday bookings. The same goes for the menu and any dietary needs. A 10% increase after that is fine, no extra charge — but reductions after final numbers can't be refunded.
Can we rearrange the room?
Within reason, yes. The Glass House comes with six possible layouts — U-shape, board room, carre, café/school, theatre and standing — and we can cluster or move tables to fit. Removing tables entirely (for theatre or full standing) carries a €49 banqueting fee. The Mezzanine is rented as-is, but we can add high tables for the same €49.
How does the food & drinks discount work?
The more you eat and drink in-house, the cheaper the room gets. €5–15 per person knocks 5% off the rental, €15–25 knocks off 10%, and €25 or more knocks off 15%. It applies automatically when we quote you.
Is the space child-friendly?
Very. Just ask grown-ups to keep an eye on the little ones — the café next door is a working café with other guests, and we'd rather no one ends up in the kitchen or the staff areas. The Mezzanine has a stair gate at the top of the stairs.
What about outside vendors — photographers, DJs, florists?
Welcome, as long as we know they're coming. Let us know who'll be on-site so we can give them the all-clear, the setup window, and a friendly heads-up on our house rules.
Do we have to clean up after ourselves?
Take your decorations and personal bits with you, and pop any rubbish in the bins we'll point out. We'll handle the rest. If a lot of waste ends up outside the bins, a €49 cleanup fee applies, but in practice this almost never comes up.
Is parking easy?
Yes — we're on Zeeburgereiland, just inside the A10 ring, with plenty of parking on the street and a P+R nearby. Easy by bike, easy by tram, easy by car.
