We’re Hiring: Independent Cook (24–36 hrs)
Bluey’s Café & Deli – Amsterdam
We’re on the lookout for a confident, independent cook to join our kitchen crew at Bluey’s – our busy neighbourhood café and deli with a Sydney-inspired menu and vibe. We cook from scratch. No prefab, no shortcuts. It’s a dynamic role with a mix of tasks: one day you’re prepping fresh meals for the deli, the next you're making banging sandwiches or running the passe during a busy brunch shift. No two days are the same.
We’re looking for someone who’s confident behind the stove and comfortable talking to guests. You’ll work closely with our owner-chef and sous chef, help keep things running smoothly, and play an active part in service when needed. For the right person, there’s an opportunity to grow into a Sous Chef role after the summer.
The role includes:
· Cooking up fresh dishes for both our deli and café menu
· Making top-notch sandwiches and meals for the display fridge
· Running the passe during café service
· Serving guests in the deli
· Helping with kitchen prep, cleaning, and restocking
· Keeping an eye on quality, freshness, and presentation
· Bringing ideas to the table – we’re always open to something tasty
You are:
· Someone who likes to roll up their sleeves and get the work done
· Positive and nurturing – you look after your team
· Experienced in a fast-paced kitchen environment
· Confident and comfortable interacting with guests
· Happy to jump in wherever needed – prep, cook, serve, clean
· Organised and a good communicator
· Passionate about good (real) food, efficiency, and teamwork

Bluey’s is a colourful and cozy neighbourhood café and deli in Amsterdam, inspired by Sydney’s food scene. We’re known for our specialty coffee, vibrant all-day brunch, fresh deli meals, and welcoming atmosphere. Whether people come in to work, catch up with friends, or grab something good to take home – we want them to feel at home.
What we offer:
· A supportive and creative kitchen environment
· Hourly wage negotiable based on skill and experience (starting from €14,36 + 8% holiday pay)
· A fixed-hour contract for the right candidate
· Tips shared across the whole team
· Staff meals and discounts
· Future opportunity to grow into a Sous Chef role
· A workplace that supports work-life balance
· No evening shifts
· Fairly fixed roster in consultation
· At least one weekend day off (unless not possible due to holidays/schedule)
