A bit about Blueys.
We are a family run business with a shared passion for serving quality food and drink, made with care.
Combine this with a deeply rooted love for people of all sorts, and you pretty much summarise our motivation for starting Bluey's.
We believe these passions lead to creating valuable connections and to do so we believe attention is the key: attention for our customers, for beautiful local and sustainable products of high quality and of course attention for each other.
We want Bluey's to be that place on Zeeburgereiland, to form those connections wether it be with your neighbours, us, the island or with yourself.
Your own way, in your own time.

Beginning with cousins, Timo and Loeki, Bluey's first opened it's doors in June 2020 and quickly developed a connection to the neighbourhood and its residents, with the goal to become an inclusive communal space for all, combining high quality specialty coffee with a delicious all day brunch menu.
After a few difficult but positive years we unfortunately suffered a major fire which lead to the entire cafe being labeled a 'total loss'. Given our strong connection to the neighbourhood and all their support during this hardship, our desire to return remained high.
Around a year and a half following the fire we finally reopened our doors again to welcome back our customers in a new and improved cafe space alongside our new delicatessen concept. The reopening also provided the perfect opportunity to grow the Bluey's family with Loeki's partner, Justin joining the ownership group.
We are once again excited to open our doors and welcome everyone. To share our passion for good food and coffee in a relaxed inclusive environment.

LoekiAfter completing Hotel School, Loeki's travels took her to Australia. Arguably the coffee capital of the world! There her passion blossomed as she worked at some of the best cafe's in both Sydney and Byron Bay, perfecting her craft. She was so inspired by the Australian coffee culture that she wanted to bring some of that home! Whether it's creating coffee concepts, competing in a barista competition or serving a flat white, coffee is at the heart of everything she does. With her strong passion, undying enthusiasm and SCA barista certification, you are guaranteed great coffee every time you come to Bluey's!

TimoApart from being a passionate dancer Timo is a creative cook at heart! When the opportunity came by to start Bluey's and create his very own locally inspired menu, he jumped at it straight away. Local products and natural flavours are two of his most important values in the kitchen. Cooking for Timo is a great way to express himself creatively and also the perfect occasion to bring people together. Don't be surprised if you spot him doing a few of his infamous dance moves while he cooks up your flavoursome brunch dish.

Bluey
The Tale of Bluey!
Tucked away on the east coast of Australia, you'll find the ever so pristine Bluey's beach. Rumour amongst the locals is; this very beach got it's name from an interesting tale and the unfortunate fate of one of the towns beloved cows. BLUEY lived on an Australian beach. He was a dear cow, everyone's friend with the tastiest milk. But he was tough and adventurous too, a true pioneer. While when grazing he always went for the greenest grass. Thereby he literally looked for the edges. Sometimes too literally! On one day that sweet BLUEY fell off the edge and drowned ... What sadness! Since that day his beach is called Blueys Beach. Rest in peace dear BLUEY. While the tale of poor Bluey was met with a sad ending, alas it was not in vain. Inspired by and in honour of the original Bluey, we have adopted a cow from Amsterdam's very own MOMA. May it carry with it the true pioneering spirit that inspired this cafe! |
